Roughin' It - Sneak Peek

It's official. I have a new favorite stamp set from Storage Units, Ink & More. (I have a feeling I'll be saying that a lot!) Isn't this set the cutest? It's called "Roughin It" and it's scheduled for release on August 1st, but you get to have a sneak peek today. This card only uses a few of the stamps in the set, just wait until you see them all...there's even s'mores! Love, love, love it!

It really takes me back to our family vacations growing up. Of course we were tent campers (yep, there's one of those in the set too!) in those days. We wouldn't have even considered a trailer roughing it. I mean come on, indoor plumbing, roughing it?

My two sisters and I loved to camp. It was such a great family time. It was the one time a year that Dad would get up early and cook breakfast so Mom could sleep in. I remember just how good it always smelled in the campground, a mixture of pine, and smoke and bacon frying on the camp stove. Mmmmmm. Great memories!

Be sure and check out the other sneak peeks today by Dawn at TreasureOiler Designz and Kimberly at It's So Pretty, It's So Cute. Then check back often for more sneak peeks coming soon!

Christmas Wishes in July

No, I am not counting the days until Christmas, it comes all too quickly as it is. I don't know why, but it just seems to sneak up on me every year even though I know it's coming.

Today's card is another "2fer". This is for Blogger's Challenge which is supposed to be a Christmas in July project and it's also my entry in Kristina's (KWernerDesign) color inspiration challenge. This week the colors are Regal Rose, Rose Red, Sage Shadow and Whisper White. Love this color combo.

I used the set "Believe" from Papertrey Ink for the main images. I stamped the PP from Basic Grey with the flourish from SU Carte Postale in Versamark and then embossed it with white embossing powder.

Don't forget to check out the creations of the rest of the Bloggers Challenge participants!

Today's episode is brought to you by the letter F

My grandson, Ivan is 2 and is starting to really get into his numbers and letters. I thought it would be a fun to start making projects that featured different ones. Today's tribute is to the letter "F". Which in this case is for frogs! I began with a wooden letter from Michaels and painted it white with acrylic paint. I stamped all the various frogs from Storage Units, Ink & More's Leap Frog set and then colored them with Copic markers. When the paint was completely dry, I added Making Memories letter stickers to spell out "is for Frogs".

It's hard to tell from the photo, but I added Diamond Glaze to their eyes for added dimension. I finally sponged around the edges with green acrylic paint and added a small green gingham bow.

Thanks for dropping by.

TLC 177 - All Things Grow

I finally had a chance to play along with the Try a New Technique challenge this week over at SCS. The technique was to use a grid on your project. The Scor-pal makes it so easy. I scored the card stock on the diagonal every half inch, rotated the paper and repeated. I then stamped the grid with a screen mesh background stamp from River City Rubber Works in Stampin' Up Bashful Blue ink. I love how it makes it look like the paper is quilted.

Isn't this a cheerful PP? It's from the Blossom Collection by 3 Bugs in a Rug. The sentiment and main image is from the All Things Grow with Love set from Storage Units, Ink & More. I just love these little flowers. They are so easy to color and they make me smile just to look at them. I used a circle punch and then added a scalloped circle made with my Nestabilities. I finished the card off with a touch of my favorite (at the moment) ribbon.

It's so much fun to try new techniques, I can't wait to see what they come up with for next week.

The Little Things

I saw this stamp from Rubber Stamp Plantation on Pat Huntoon's blog a few weeks ago and told her that this butterfly was going to come home with me. Well, here it is! Isn't it gorgeous?

I began by using temporary adhesive to adhere a circle on the card stock and then brayering on
Dried Marigold and Dusty Concord Distress Inks. I stamped the butterfly from SU's Happiness Always set in Peeled Paint Distress Ink and added three Doodlebug brads and a bow. The main butterfly was created by stamping it in Memento Tuxedo black ink and then applying Versamark followed by Perfect Pearls along with various Twinkling H2Os. I added it to the card with dimensionals and added the sentiment from Verve's Petals and Stems set.

Enjoy your weekend!

Kiss me, you fool!

I hope you have your shades on because this card is bright even by my standards!

This adorable little frog is from the Leap Frog set from Storage Units, Ink & More. The sentiment was the true inspiration for this design. I just couldn't resist drawing these ruby red lips on the frogs. After all, you have to be prepared when your prince comes along, right?

I combined Prima Marketing and KI Memories patterned paper with Bazzill card stock to create the base, stamped the frog three times on white card stock and then colored them with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut and embossed it, along with the scalloped circle behind it with Nestabilities. I added a punch of pink with a bow and crystal.

Here's hoping you've all found your prince.

A Bug's Life

If only all bugs were this cute! This is my Blogger's Challenge card for week 55. The challenge was to create something with bugs and insects. I have had this adorable set called "U Bug Me" from Sunday International for years and have never inked them up. What a perfect challenge to put them to work. You really need to click on the photo to enlarge it to see the details in this card.

I decided to make a vignette so I could use several of the individual bugs. I was trying to think of a scenario where a bunch of bugs would all be hanging out together and then it hit me. They're all waiting in line for their turn to audition for the movie, "The Bug's Life". Corny, I know, but I had a lot of fun with it. The casting sign is computer generated using a font I found here and a leaf that is one of the custom shapes in Photoshop Elements. The images were all colored with Copic Markers and I drew in some grass and added some clouds by cutting out a cloud freehand from scrap paper and then sponging Bashful Blue ink around the edges.

Oh, I almost forgot, it's time to draw my Blog Candy Winner....and the lucky person is....

Christina - a.k.a. thecardpixie on Splitcoast Stampers

Congratulations !! Send me your address Christina and the goodies will be on their way.

Thanks for dropping by. I am so glad it's Friday!

Cindy Lou Who?

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I tend to name things. You know, inanimate objects, neighborhood animals, stamp characters... which brings me to Cindy Lou. I just love this stamp from Storage Units, Ink & More and while I've been working with her I have begun to call her Cindy Lou. Why? Because I think it just suits her. Then, tonight as I was trying to think of a title for my post (there's a whole other post for another day), I thought of Cindy Lou Who and that led me to think of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and that lead me to Google images and that led me to this picture. You have to admit that there is a resemblance. :-)

I used Memento Tuxedo Black to stamp the images and colored them with my Copic Markers. The PP is a combination of Stampin' Up and Sweetwater. I punched small circles in coordinating colors and used them to form a scalloped border.

Don't forget to leave a comment on this message for a chance at my blog candy.

Something Girly

I loved this week's challenge over at No Time to Stamp. The quest was to make something soft and girly! I LOVE girly! The feminine touches in my entry include scallops, the color pink, flowers, crochet, hat pin, glitter and rick rack.

I began by selecting this My Mind's Eye PP called "Fancy Party". The pattern just jumped out at me at the LSS. I think pink is one of those "love it or hate it" colors and I for one LOVE IT! I created the scallops with the Long Classic Scalloped Rectangle Nestability die and added it to card stock. I then stamped the sentiment by Verve and cut and embossed it with Nestabilities as well. I added rick rack, a hat pin and a crocheted flower from Oriental Trading Company. For the center of the flower, I took a large brad and coated it in Glossy Accents and the dipped it in Scrapbook Shimmer from Making Memories.

Thanks for the challenge Sharon. I loved it!

Don't forget to leave a message on my Blogoversary post for a chance to win Blog Candy. I will draw a winner on July 10th.

Happy Blogoversary to me!

I have two things to celebrate today! First, my first entry to KWernerdesign Blog Color Inspiration challenge made the Top 10! Woohoo! I was so excited.

Second, it has been a year today since I began this crazy thing called blogging! I often wondered if I was doing it for an audience of one (me, that is ) and when I finally decided that would not be a bad thing, I began enjoying it so much more! I want to thank each and every one of you who have visited during the last year and for all of the wonderful comments that lifted me up. Thank you so much!!

I know that there are also several who visit but don't leave comments and that's OK too, but now is the time to come forward and introduce yourself.

BECAUSE......

In celebration of this milestone, I have a little something for YOU! Blog Candy!!

All you have to do is leave me a comment (one entry per person please) on this post by July 10th and I will let Random.org select one lucky winner to receive all these fun things:

BC W54 - Happy 4th!

I was so glad I could jump back in to the Blogger's Challenge this week after missing it last week. This week's challenge was to create a card using color blocking. I have to say that really takes me back to the days when I owned a ton of color blocked clothing. Was that the 80's? I think it has been suppressed from my memory as it's just too painful to recall. Right up there with shoulder pads...

I can't believe that I have made two cards in a row without using patterned paper. Shocking! Instead I combined some Bazzill, Stampin' Up and Core'dinations card stock and punched out one inch squares. I drew light pencil lines in a grid to assist in the placement of the squares. I then glued them in place and when I was happy with them, I erased the lines. I doodled on each square with a Stampin' Up journaler.

The stamp is from Stampendous and it is called "Biker Bee". I just love these bees. They're so cute and so quick to color. In this case I used Copic markers and a touch of Stickles here and there. The stars were cut out using a Sizzix die and my Cuttlebug. I added the polka dots with a Martha Stewart opaque marker.

Hope your 4th is filled with family, fun and festivities!

Colored Mojo ....

or how I combined Color Inspiration and Mojo Monday and had fun doing it!

This is my first time participating in KwernerDesign's Color Inspiration Challenge but I have been stalking her blog for a long time. (Hi Kristina!) This week's color challenge was to combine SU's Basic Black, Basic Gray, Whisper White, Ruby Red, and River Rock. I knew I wanted to use them for this week's Mojo Monday challenge and thought the colors would work beautifully with the new Verve set "Asian Flair". The sentiment is from a little Studio G clear stamp set that I picked up for $1.00 last weekend. Gotta love that! The other thing you've gotta love are these gorgeous self adhesive pearls from Kaisercraft, they come in the most beautiful colors. I had to pick up one in every shade.

I just noticed that there is no patterned paper on this card!! I think that is a first in months. I always seem to pick out a paper first when I'm making a card but I really like the simplicity of this card so I may have to forgo the PP more often.

It's all about the details:
Card stock: Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper: OMG None!
Stamps: Verve, Studio G
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU River Rock
Accessories: Foam Squares, Ribbon, Kaisercraft Pearls
Tools: Scor-pal, SU punches

All Things Grow with Love

I finally broke down and used some of my favorite Chatterbox "Parlor" patterned paper. I just love green and purple together and I don't know of any company that does floral papers better than Chatterbox.

I allowed the paper to dictate which Copic Markers to use on the Storage Units, Ink & More stamps. These cute little images are part of the "All Things Grow with Love" collection. I colored each image and used my square punch to cut them out. I adhered them to card stock and then placed them on dimensionals. I used the Fiskars Threading Water punch to add trim and this gorgeous satin ribbon from Papertrey Ink.

Have a terrific Thursday! Another three day weekend is on the horizon.
