The Motherload

I want to let you in on a big secret that I've been keeping since early May. (You didn't think I could do it, did you?) I have been asked to be a part of the first Design Team for a new stamp line from Storage Units, Ink & More!!! I was beyond excited when Denise emailed me and asked if I would join the other amazing team members. Turquoise, Pink and Green Galore, oh my!

OK, I'll admit it. I was more than a little bit appre- hensive about this week's Blogger's Challenge color challenge. I see from reading some of the other participant's blogs that I was not alone either. :-)

I decided to pull out one of my favorite Whipper Snapper Designs stamps called "Main Street". I colored the image with Copic Markers, doodled around the edges and placed it on dimensionals. The background was created by stamping the Frame Up #3 stamp from "Make an Impression" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Stampin' Up DP and adding card stock to the inside of the rectangles. I then stamped the Papertrey Ink sentiment and punched it out with a circle punch. It too was placed on dimensionals. Shhh, don't tell anyone that the ribbon was added to hide a little boo-boo that I made while doodling. LOL. You have to love that thing called serendipity.

This is what I truly love about challenges. Being forced to step outside your comfort zone and ending up with a card or project that you really like in spite of your early reservations.

I mentioned in the last post that I had received a RAK . It was from no other than Smilin' Stef herself and it was this card from the Movie Dress Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast! Thank you so much Stef, I am thrilled that you thought of me.

DH Birthday

A very quick post tonight as I need to get some sleep. My Mom is having knee replacement surgery in the morning and I need to get up with the chickens to get to the hospital.

This is my DH's birthday card. He and my daughter's birthdays are only two days apart. I made this for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #51, but I think I'm just a little late in posting. :-) I used some of my favorite Basic Grey Blush PP and a Hero Arts clear stamp from the "Message" set. I debated about adding scallops but thought it would be too feminine, so I cut a "dental trim" effect instead to use behind the center panel.

Thanks for dropping in. I'll post more tomorrow. I received a RAK in the mail yesterday that blew me away. I was so excited so I'll share that with you as well. I just love happy mail!

Celebrate Today

This is the card I designed for my daughter's birthday. We had such a terrific time in the Seattle area celebrating. It was a little on the cold side but that helped keep crowds to a minimum. On Saturday my daughter, son-in-law, grandson, son and his girlfriend, and ex-husband joined my husband and me for a trip to Woodland Park Zoo followed by dinner at Buca di Beppo. What a wonderful week-end.

I had not been to the zoo in years and it was so much fun experiencing it through the eyes of my two year old grandson. He had the opportunity to get up close and personal and feed a giraffe and seemed to be awe struck by the experience.


Dinner was awesome too and we feasted on Bucacini, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Saltimbocca, Lasagna, Chicken Cannelloni, Veal Parmesan and topped it off with Tiramisu and Chocolate Vesuvio. All the meals are served family style and with my glass of Chianti it was perfect.

Black Tie Affair - BC 50

That's what this card reminds me of. Not that I've ever been to one, mind you. But a girl can imagine can't she?

It is week 50 for the Blogger's Challenge group and the challenge this week was to create a card in black and white only. I picked up this flocked paper by The Paper Company at Michael's last week and it was perfect for this challenge. I stamped the sentiment from Heidi Grace Designs, cut it out, adhered it to Bazzill card stock and added self-adhesive pearls to the corners. I couldn't find the wide black ribbon I was looking for so I went with three different ones. If one is good, three has got to be great, right?

I can't believe it's Friday already. It is a very special Friday too. It's my daughter's birthday! Happy Birthday Andrea!!

My precious baby girl is turning 30 today. Now how can I possibly be the mother of a 30 year old?

New stamps, new paper, and new toys, does it get any better than that? My sweet DH took me shopping yesterday and I purchased this punch from Martha Stewart, the Anna Griffin Alix Collection Mat Pack, and a new set of Hero Arts Clear stamps. I'm really into purchasing sentiment stamps right now.

I stamped "Best Wishes" in Bashful Blue, then cut and embossed an oval with my Nestabilities and added A Muse Creative Candy over the "i" for accent. This has long been one of my favorite color combinations. I just love the calming feeling of blue and white. It always soothes me.
