Dig Out Your Acetate

So when was the last time you dug into your stash of acetate to make a card or project? I know I haven't used any for at least a year or two but today we are being challenged to pull some out and use it for the Serendipity Stamps challenge.

I had some patterned acetate from Anna Griffin that served to inspire my card. I cut out about a three inch section of my card front and then "spliced" in the acetate. I pulled in black to complement the cream in the design and added my favorite script stamp from Serendipity -- This is the Day. I cut it out with Nestabilities and popped it up over another embossed layer of card stock. I added a Martha Stewart applique butterfly that I misted with Glimmer Mist to finish the card.

If you want to play along, Mary has a great buy on acetate over at Serendipity Stamps. You can pick up 10 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 acetate for $1.00. Can't beat that!

Head on over to Jeanne, Amy, Jenny, Miriam and Sue's blogs to see what they've whipped up with acetate.

Have a terrific day!

Office Supplies

OK, I'll admit it. I have a very warped sense of humor sometimes. Case in point ... today's card. This one is going to need a bit of explaining. :-)

Three days ago I received a call from one of my co-workers. She called to tell me that she had a dizzy spell the night before which caused her to pass out. On her way down, she hit her head on the granite counter top and ended up in an ambulance heading to the hospital. Ultimately she had to have 5 staples in her noggin'. As her supervisor, I couldn't resist teasing her about the proper use of staples!

The adorable image is from the Twitterpated stamp set from Verve and the gorgeous papers are from My Mind's Eye.

Disclaimer: I want to add that I wouldn't send this type of card to just anyone who had an injury. I really believe you have to know your audience and Maria has the same sick humor I have. I know she will get a kick out of it. Here's a little close-up for you.

Have a terrific Thursday...I hear it's a full moon. Just a little warning. :-)

Dimensional Flowers Challenge

Today's Serendipity Stamps challenge is a tribute to "Mom" with dimensional flowers. We could choose from paper or felt or fabric to create the dimension. Hooray for Moms! This card will be perfect for my mom this year. She has the most amazing green thumb. Here's a close-up of the dimension.

I chose this beautiful Hollyhock flower stamp as my focal image and began by stamping it twice. I colored the base image with Copic Markers and then colored and cut out the second image. I layered the two images and added Stickles to the flower centers. I printed the sentiment from my computer and placed it on dimensionals. The punch is the Arch Lattice from Martha Stewart.
