Whachadoin' Wednesday - Thanksgiving Favors

Good morning! Are you up for a challenge this beautiful Wednesday morning? Well, as luck would have it, we just happen to have one for you...and it's a fun one!

The challenge this week is to make a Thanksgiving favor. I have to say that this one had me stumped for awhile. I thought of several things only to toss them out as being too boring, too difficult, too weird...until I thought of this:

I don't know about your family, but when ours gathers for Thanksgiving, we always have tons of left over pie. What cuter way to send home a slice than with your very own pie box?

I want you to know that I went through great personal sacrifice in the quest to create the template for this box. I began by paying a visit to the drive-through of our local Burger King and placing an order for a #5 meal and a Cookie Dough pie. Of course I had to empty the box in order to disassemble it and that's where the sacrifice came in. Well, someone had to eat it! Once the box was empty, I carefully took it apart and traced it onto card stock and cut it out. I scored the box and then assembled it using glue dots to secure the seams.

I used the cute little pie image and part of one of the sentiments from the "Bountiful Harvest" set released today from Storage Units, Ink & More to decorate the box along with My Mind's Eye and Stampin' Up patterned papers. The bow is decorative but also functions to keep the box closed.

OK, now, it's your turn. Come on, show us your stuff and don't forget to check out all four new sets released today!

It's all about the details:
Card stock: Core'dinations
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye and Stampin' Up
Stamps: Storage Units, Ink & More
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Ink
Accessories: Foam Squares, ribbon
Tools: SU Punches, Copic Markers

I am all over having to sacrifice to create! You know all those full size bags of candy that you only need a few pieces out of for a project. And now I am gonna have to get me some pie too! You rock. This is adorable. And you are so right, it would be perfect to send pie home or to used daily to send pie with hubby to work or kids to school! Love it, I am off to consume some pies -- YUMMY! Great job on the challenge Kathie!

Kathie,
OK, so I had to comment on such a cute idea, and a very USEFUL idea! But then, I read on, and had to comment on what an amazing sacrifice you made. I only hope your family appreciates it!!!
This is a fantastic idea, & I'm definitely going to do it!!!
Not only T-giving, but Christmas, Easter, whenever we have a family dinner where there are PIES!
Also, I was just thinking, what about using a burger box (or similar)as a template for a peice o'cake box for b-day parties, etc.?!
Thanks Kathie for the inspiration!

Now that's a great idea Kathie! You are very clever! How was your slice of cookie dough pie at Burger King? I'll have to go get a piece so I can have a template too! Oh, the sacrifices we crafters make...lol! :D
