A Tribute to Marilyn

I checked in tonight to see what the inspiration challenge was at Splitcoast Stampers. What fun IC130 turned out to be. The object was to use any dress from a movie to inspire a card. The first dress that popped into my mind was Marilyn Monroe's dress from "The Seven Year Itch". You know the sexy one she is wearing when the blast of air blows it up around her waist and tantalized the 50's audience with a sneak at Marilyn's undies.

I scored my card with Scor-pal to represent the pleats in the dress and then added other touches that represent Marilyn to me...glittered brads for diamonds and glitz, silver to represent her platinum "blonde" hair and pink, what I always think of as her signature color.

Love You More

Here I am at the 11th hour again posting my Blogger's Challenge. Sorry it's late but I had a terrible migraine today and it finally started to ease up around 7:00 PM.

The challenge theme this week was animals. I knew right away that I wanted to use these cute little possums from High Hope Rubber Stamps for the main image. I stamped them in Palette Noir Black and colored them with Copic Markers. The background paper is by Far and Away Scrapbooks from their Facades collection and the accent PP is from the SU Uptown set.

I cut out a small tag, stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things and doodled around the edges before tying it onto ribbon with floss.

Can't wait to see all the other challengers' creations.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

Today I'm going for some kind of record for the most challenges contained within one card. LOL.

This is my Top of the Pile Tuesday card which is also my TLC170 entry. The Try a New Technique challenge this week at Splitcoast Stampers is to combine the TLC (Try a new Technique Challenge), the CC (Color Challenge), and the SC (Sketch Challenge). We needed to choose one TLC from the first 10 TLCs, one CC from the first 10 CCs, and one of the first 10 SCs and make a card. I chose TLC06 (Spotlight), CC 02 (Ruby Red, Barely Banana and Not Quite Navy), and SC 07.

I had to substitute some Bazzill card stock in shades as close as possible to the SU equivalents and turned the sketch to accommodate my stamp, but overall I was very pleased with the end result. The "Ants Go Marching" stamp is from Whipper Snapper Designs and the cute little sentiment and ant is from a set by Stampendous. The patterned paper that was lying on top of my pile this week is from Daisy D's and fit into my challenge perfectly.

Believe in Roses

Just a quick post tonight before I head to bed. This is another one of my poor neglected stamps. In fact, I neglected it so long that the company that made it (PSX) is no longer in business! I paired the rose stamp with a sentiment stamp by Printworks. Don't you just love this proverb?

I used Copics to color the rose and added a few Dew Drops and May Arts ribbon as embellishments.

I saw that a Copic Certification session is coming to Seattle and sure wish I could go. Wouldn't it be great to be an "expert" in Copics? I know there is so much more that can be done with them.

Just before we left for vacation, I placed an order for several new stamps. Included in the order were several from High Hopes. I had never ordered from them before but I am very pleased with the quality of their stamps. They have some of the cutest images!

I stamped the "Doctor" in Palette Noir Black and reached for my aqua-painter and ink pads instead of my Copic markers for a change. I really like the way he turned out. I cut him out and placed him on dimensionals. The sentiment is also from High Hopes and was stamped and then cut out with my new Spellbinders tag die and Wizard.

Hi There! BC #48

Sorry it's a day late, but here's my card for Blogger's Challenge #48. I just returned from a day and a half Retreat for our management team at work. We had such a great time and it was really productive but man is it exhausting preparing for and putting it on. Can't wait to sleep in tomorrow.

Our challenge this week was to create a card with red, white and blue.

I took a little liberty with a ladybug's God given color scheme, but ladybugs are one of nature's most whimsical creatures, right? This cute little bug is called Ladybug with Smile by Global Solutions. I stamped her three times and colored her with Copics and added a bit of shimmer to her wings with a clear Spica pen. The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

I cut out a small section from KI Memories Flower Child paper and used it as an overlay to my Chatterbox PP. The rest of the card is pretty self explanatory.
