Sneak Peek - Deer Ol Santa

Yeah, it's my favorite time of month again...it's sneak peek time for the new November releases from Storage Units, Ink & More. Be sure to check out all seven sets on the 1st. You are going to want to grab them all!

My card today is made using the "Deer Ol Santa" set. The images in this set are just adorable. The cutest reindeer ever! The set also contains four sentiments that will be perfect for your holiday card making. I thought the "I heart Santa" paper in the Cosmo Cricket Oh Joy set was just crying out to be used on this card!

Don't forget to swing by Tori's blog today to see what she has whipped up for you.

TGIF everyone!!

True Friend

Here's a rare second post in one day! I really wanted to participate in Kwernerdesign's color inspiration challenge again. Kristina decided to bring it out of its brief retirement and I am so glad she did. I just love the Round-up. Thanks Kristina for finding a solution that lets us still enjoy it!

This week's colors definitely fit the description of "challenge"! Ruby Red, Pumpkin Pie, Sage Shadow and Whisper White...really tough for me.

This little bird is from Printworks and he just makes me smile. I paired him with a Papertrey Ink sentiment and used another stamp from Papertrey to make the circled background. The card also gave me a chance to use my new "Labels One" Nestabilities.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Orange and Black - It's not just for Halloween Anymore

Whachadoin'? Feel up to joining us in a little challenge over at Storage Units, Ink & More? Today we are cooking up something orange and black (you can also throw in one neutral color) that is not Halloween related. Here's my card.

I may have to try this orange and black combo more often. I really like the end result! This cute little "hugger" and the sentiment are both from SU Ink & More's "Bear with Me" stamp set.

Public Service Announcement

Tonight I have two cards to share with you. Both were made with Storage Units, Ink & More's "Vote for Me" stamp set. This is such a timely set and it would be perfect to use for anyone running for office...school, PTO, etc. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an artist, but I did try my hand at making a backdrop for this debate scene. Yes, I did crack myself up!

My second card was made using some of my infamous stash of patterned paper. I just love this little image of the voting booth. I paper pieced the curtain and "Vote Here" sign and added Kandi Corp. small copper stars to the corners with my new Professional Touch tool. I love that you can get the look of a brad without having to have anything show on the inside of the card.

The message of both cards is the same. Regardless of the candidates you support, the important thing is that you get out there and VOTE!

Have an awesome week!

Pinch Me!

But whatever you do, don't wake me! I'm so excited to be the Featured Cupcake Sampler this week over at Taylored Expressions! Taylor emailed me shortly after last week's challenge where I posted this card and asked if I would be interested. Ummm, Yes! I love Taylor's challenges and was so honored to be selected to play with the next sketch ... and what a sketch! Don't you love it?!

I chose Basic Grey's Eva patterned paper for my background and then added several coordinating colors of Core'dinations card stock to make the panels. I punched 1" circles in the panels before adhering them to the card. The "cupcakes" were made with the Magnolia Cowberry Muffin stamp and colored with Copic Markers. I also added pink Stickles to jazz them up a touch. You can see the sparkle really well by clicking the photo to enlarge it. You'll find the complete details below.

If you've wandered in here via Taylored Expressions, welcome! It's great to have you here. I hope you'll make my blog a regular stop. Rumor has it that Taylor is releasing new stamps today. Don't miss out!

Thanks again Taylor! It was a blast!

Flaunt It!

I love this week's challenge at Taylored Expressions! Taylor asked us to get creative and tell her what our stamps are really saying or thinking! It was tough settling on one image but I finally selected this humorous one from Art Impressions. Isn't she a hoot?

Stamping and coloring were the easiest part of this challenge...the tough part was deciding on just what she was thinking! I couldn't decide between the one I chose, and "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" and my husband's personal favorite " Which way to the wet t-shirt contest?". Smiley from millan.net

You'll find all the card details below. Hope your weekend was relaxing and that your week ahead will be a fantastic one.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Man this week is going by fast. It's already time for another Kwernerdesign color challenge. This time I knew instantly which stamp I wanted to use to go with the colors Kristina selected.

I think this stamp by Inky Antics is too adorable ... especially for those of us that love snowmen anyway. I love their expressions and they are so much fun (and easy) to color. I used Copics this time around but they're just as wonderful colored with watercolors or reinkers.

I stamped a snowflake from Papertrey Ink's Snowflake Serenade set with Versamark ink on all the colored card stock pieces and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I mounted both the snowmen panel and the sentiment from A Muse Artstamps on dimensionals. It's difficult to see in the image (click to enlarge) that the snowflake was punched twice, once in white and once in vellum and then layered. I had to add a little extra sparkle, so I dusted the snowmen wings with superfine glitter and then placed a crystal in the center of the snowflake to finish the card.

Thanks for paying me a visit!

Thanksgiving Blessings - SUINKWWC10

It's another Whachadoin' Wednesday over at Storage Units, Ink & More. Come join in.. and create something special using this bedding as inspiration.

Hmmm, it took awhile for the inspiration to grab hold of me with this set. Quite honestly, I had a difficult time getting past the color scheme. This is definitely not something I would choose for myself, but once I got past the colors and looked at the design, I knew just what I wanted to do.

I found a "Brides Collection" set of invitations on sale at Michaels yesterday. I normally wouldn't have given it a second look but the paper and colors caught my eye. I fell in love and would have bought it just for the patterned paper in the kit but it also came with ribbon and envelopes. Score!

I began with an ivory card base and used my Scor-pal to score it at 1/4" along each side. I added Core'dinations card stock and a bit of the patterned paper and ribbon from the invitations kit.

I stamped a sentiment from the Bountiful Harvest set with SU Chocolate Chip ink on ivory card stock and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then cut and embossed it with Nestabilities. I inked all the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and added crystals for a bit of sparkle. A very simple card but it "speaks" to me. :-)

I hope you can play along! If you upload your card to Splitcoast be sure and use SUINKWWC10 as a keyword so we can find you!

TECC37 - We Gather Together

I finally had a chance to play along with Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge. I
never miss checking out all the fantastic entries each week. They're so much fun. I used the sketch with Basic Grey's Ambrosia patterned paper. Yummy! The stamps are from the the Bountiful Harvest set from Storage Units, Ink & More. Are they not the cutest pilgrims ever?

I used my new Martha Stewart circle cutter to make all the circles. I have always struggled with other circle cutters but I love this one. Makes cutting circles so easy! I've read other reviews that were less than favorable, but it works great for me. I love that we have a variety of solutions in crafting so we can find the perfect solution for us.

The pilgrims and turkey were colored with Copic markers and then cut out before applying to the circle.

Thanks for checking in ... I hope your weekend is wonderful.

Little Chickadee

Time for another Kwernerdesign color challenge. The colors this week are ballet blue, certainly celery, so saffron and ruby red.

I stamped the background with SU's Sanded stamp and VersaMark and embossed it with clear embossing powder. The little chickadee is from the Little Cupcake clear stamp set from Inkadinkado. I accented the card with some ribbon I picked up at Michaels, punched leaves (Martha Stewart) and a flower (Stampin' Up) and used my Signo Uniball pen to add detail.

Enjoy your weekend!

Love is in the Air - Blogger's Challenge #68

Sorry I have been MIA for the Blogger's Challenge so much lately. First it was vacation, then we had a surprise 75th and 80th birthday party for my Mom and Dad last weekend. Then two nights ago, I had a freak fall and cut my foot and possibly broke my big toe. I am now sporting a very fashion forward calf high boot that looks something like this. Pretty attractive, huh?

The challenge this week was to use this photo as inspiration for our project. I let the colors inspire me to create my card. I love black, white and red together anyway and I was eager to use my new stamps from Savvy Stamps. I think they are just the cutest!

Be sure to visit the other bloggers to see how they used the inspiration piece. You'll find them by clicking on the link in my sidebar.

Have a terrific weekend!

Color Inspiration Challenge #24

KwernerDesign's color challenge this week is my favorite one yet. These are my colors and the inspiration piece just makes me drool. Love those plates!

I chose a card base of Chocolate Chip and then added a strip of Pumpkin Pie that I pierced with American Traditional Designs template # PC-010. I added a larger strip of Kiwi Kiss that had been stamped, in ink of the same color, with the "Pretty Pattern" stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms. I then tied an ivory bow to unify the strips. The sentiment is from the "Asian Flair" set by Verve. I finished by placing the strips on dimensionals and adding some Stampin' Up Flower Fusion set with a brad.

Thanks for checking in. Now go check out all the other entries! They're fabulous!

Whachadoin' Wednesday - Thanksgiving Favors

Good morning! Are you up for a challenge this beautiful Wednesday morning? Well, as luck would have it, we just happen to have one for you...and it's a fun one!

The challenge this week is to make a Thanksgiving favor. I have to say that this one had me stumped for awhile. I thought of several things only to toss them out as being too boring, too difficult, too weird...until I thought of this:

I don't know about your family, but when ours gathers for Thanksgiving, we always have tons of left over pie. What cuter way to send home a slice than with your very own pie box?

I want you to know that I went through great personal sacrifice in the quest to create the template for this box. I began by paying a visit to the drive-through of our local Burger King and placing an order for a #5 meal and a Cookie Dough pie. Of course I had to empty the box in order to disassemble it and that's where the sacrifice came in. Well, someone had to eat it! Once the box was empty, I carefully took it apart and traced it onto card stock and cut it out. I scored the box and then assembled it using glue dots to secure the seams.

I used the cute little pie image and part of one of the sentiments from the "Bountiful Harvest" set released today from Storage Units, Ink & More to decorate the box along with My Mind's Eye and Stampin' Up patterned papers. The bow is decorative but also functions to keep the box closed.

OK, now, it's your turn. Come on, show us your stuff and don't forget to check out all four new sets released today!
