Fabulous Birthday

This is another Stampin' Up set I just had to have when it first came out and I am just now getting around to using it. I have seen so many gorgeous variations of it on SCS. I almost scrapped this and started over though. I stamped the flower three times with Versamark ink on white paper and embossed it with Judikins embossing powder in Cabernet Twinkle. When I was deciding which PP and card stock to use, I ended up choosing ones with an ivory tone. The white was definitely not going to work, so I grabbed one of my Copic markers in a beige tone and colored it in. Nope, I still wasn't happy with the results so I went for the gold Stickles. This is one sparkly card!

It's all about the details:
Card stock: Paper Accents Pearlized Cream
Patterned paper: Sandylion, Poinsettia Swirl

Stamps: Stampin' Up - Fabulous Flowers;Sentiment - unknown
Ink: Palette - Claret
Accessories: Ribbon, I kan dee, Foam Squares, Stickles

Melvin

Today's card is just for fun! No special occasion, no holiday, a "just because" card. Let me introduce you to Melvin from Art Impressions. Everyone knows a Melvin, don't they? I paired him, with a sentiment from Inky Antics that really seemed appropriate.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I had an interesting one that featured fish and chips for dinner....don't ask. :-) Enjoy your weekend!

Fraternal Twins

Meet Cleo and Clem, the fraternal crab twins. LOL. I had to whip up a couple of Birthday RAKs for this month and since I have a tough time doing the same card twice, I ended up with the twins. As much as I hate to split them up, they'll be heading for separate homes on Friday.

Have a very blessed Thanksgiving and eat a piece of pumpkin pie for me.

And now for something completely different....I present another card, this time with unconventional colors. I love brown and blue together and this My Mind's Eye paper really fits the bill. I love the fact that it deviates from the traditional red and green.

That Jolly Old Elf

I own several Santa stamps but this one by Stamp Francisco is definitely one of my favorites. It comes in small, medium and large versions. This card was made with the medium. He has such a gentle face and really kind eyes. Just as I imagine the real Santa does.

I stamped Santa with Brillance Graphite Black ink and colored him with Copic markers. It's the first time I have tried blending two dramatically different colors (beige and red for the cheeks) and I played with a copy several times before I was satisfied with the outcome. It's difficult to see in the smaller image but I also used a clear Spica pen to add some sparkle to his beard, eyebrows and baby blue eyes.

I used Nestabilities for the Very Vanilla frame and for the circle for the sentiment which is from Verve Visual. The paper is another My Mind's Eye favorite.

Have a super week, mine will be very busy as we have auditors decending on us for a week or so. I'll post as I can.

Still waiting for someone to claim the blog candy. *sigh*

Happy Mail

I just love happy mail! Is there a better feeling than opening up your mailbox and finding an unexpected card or letter?

Here are four BRAKs I received last week. Aren't they wonderful?

Love the pink and paisley combo in this card
from Deb Albright (Crafty Turtle). So bright and happy.

What could be more perfect for a gal from Washington
State than an apple card? Love it. Thanks Leesa Berry (berry nice cards)!

Karen Mackie (Brad's mom) sent me this gorgeous card.
Don't you love the color combination? So, so cute.

This sparkling beauty is from Kimberley Kelley.
Thanks so much Kimberley (kimmery)!

A second helping of Figgy Pudding

I hope you're not tired of these yet, because I have several to go.

I broke out my Rusty Pickle Grinch-mas stamp set for the sentiment and paired it with SU's Season of Joy. The finishing touches include a brad for the dot in the "i" and a touch of gold Stickles for the flower centers. So simple, but very festive!

I still have not heard from Dale, so I may be drawing a new blog candy winner tomorrow evening, stay tuned......

Invitations - Take Two

From the looks of the SCS gallery, I am not alone in my love for Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding. This is so wonderful to play with and it's perfect for making cards this holiday season.

This layout is one of my old standbys. Tried and true, nothing fancy but I always like the end result. (Well, not always, but that's a card for another day!) I used A Season of Joy again for the stamps and added a little bling by MMBI. The "O" in Joy has been punched out of a second image and is placed on foam squares for added dimension.

The first of 12

I took advantage of Jen's SFYTT for this weekend by using it for the first of the 12 Board invitations. Good thing too, because by the twelfth card my mojo was seriously stretched to the max. I know it would be so much easier to just pick one layout and duplicate it but I really enjoy making each one unique.

Hope you enjoy them, you'll be seeing several more over the next few days. :-)

Have a terrific week, sorry it has to begin with a Monday!

Christmas Dreams

I just received packages of both my new Elzybells stamps and Nestabilities, so of course I just had to combine them into a card. Have you seen these new stamps? They are so adorable! I love their size and they're so much fun to color. I used Copics to color this one called "Christmas Dreams".

I've been working all afternoon on making cards for our Board of Directors for the upcoming Christmas Party. It's kind of become a tradition for me to make the invites and I really look forward to it. I'll have several to show you tomorrow.

I said that I would post some pics of our recent vacation, and this is one of my favorites. This guy was just strolling down the road after we left Mt. Rushmore. He was obviously very comfortable around people and looked as if he was used to humoring these silly creatures rapidly snapping photos.

There's something going around

Seems like everyone is getting sick at work. Must be a bug in the air! It prompted me to dig out a few cute stamps I've had for a while and never used. Both the jar and bug are from Inky Antics and the sentiment that goes so well with them is by Limited Edition Rubberstamps.

I haven't heard from the winner of my blog candy yet. Dale, if you're out there send me your address! If I don't hear from Dale by next Thursday, I'll draw a new name.

Have a happy Friday!
