A Fond Farewell

Today I am posting my final projects as a design team member for Storage Units Ink & More. Even though the decision to step down was mine, it was a very difficult one to make. I can't thank Denise enough for having faith in me and giving me my first design team experience. It was made all the more special because it was the first team assembled for her new stamp line. I also had the privilege of working with some of the most talented stampers anywhere and loved working with SUINK's wonderful stamps. The experience definitely made me venture outside my comfort zone and stretch my stamping abilities.

Be sure to check out the new design team that Denise has assembled. Their work is phenomenal and I know you will love their creations.

Ooh, scary!

I'm back from a brief holiday hiatus. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa brought you lots of stamps and craft supplies! I was spoiled as usual and feel so blessed.

Today's card was so much fun to make. I created it for the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast. This week's featured stamper is Barbara Schram aka Stampfilled Dreams over at SCS. You can check out her wonderful gallery here. This is the card I chose to CASE. I used different stamps and changed up the color scheme for my card.

To create my "scary" birthday scene, I used two sets of Storage Units, Ink & More stamps, Monster Party, and It's My Party. The PP is from Stampin' Up and so is the (still my fav) felt ribbon.

SUINKWWC18 - Hi Sweetie Pie

Happy Hump Day and welcome to another Whachadoin' Wednesday challenge from Storage Units, Ink & More. The twist today? To create a card from a holiday set that is non-holiday in nature. Love this! I chose the Bountiful Harvest set and grabbed that adorable little pie again. I just love this little stamp. Of course my attempt to stay away from sweets may have had a slight influence on my choice! ;-)

The PP is Stampin' Up and so is the delicious felt ribbon. I can't get enough of this stuff. I used a computer generated sentiment to tie into the image.

Cuttin' the Pow Pow on a Blue Bird Day

I'll admit it. I am clueless when it comes to snowboarding ... and I'll confess that I had to Google snowboarding terms to come up with a title for today's post. Pretty sad, huh? By the way, for the rest of you "uncool" folks out there, the title translates to "snowboarding in fresh powder on a beautiful day".

I may not know snowboarding but I do know stamps and I love this set from Storage Units, Ink & More called "Aspen". Can't you just feel the crisp air and the hear the snow crunching underfoot? For a view of the other 11 stamps in the set check out this link to SUINK.

Peace on Earth

Yikes, I am so far behind in posting my design team work. I had better get busy and show them off.

This sweet little image of Mary and baby Jesus is from the "Oh Holy Night" set from Storage Units, Ink & More. It is just one of 11 images that are so much fun to play with. I love it paired with this shimmery patterned paper from Heidi Grace. The coloring is done with Copic markers. The rest of the design is pretty straight forward and you'll find the specific details below.

I'll be back tomorrow with one or two more cards. I have to make up some ground!

Happy Birthday Denise!

We have a birthday girl in our midst today! Happy Birthday Denise! Denise is our fearless leader and owner of Storage Units, Ink & More. The design team thought it would be fun to surprise her and create cards for her using stamps from SUINK.

I used stamps from two sets, Leap Frog and It's my Party. Doesn't this little frog look like he's just jumping for joy? He must really like birthdays. (More than some of us!) I hope you are as excited about yours, Denise and I hope it brings you a day filled with all your favorite things!

Roughin' It Revisited

Denise from Storage Units, Ink & More asked her design team to get creative this week and show everyone just how versatile her stamp sets are by coming up with a holiday card or project using one of the previous (non-holiday) stamp sets.

After looking through all the great sets, I settled on "Roughin' It" and got busy! This card is for all those RVers out there who spend most of their time on the road.

I began by stamping the trees on vanilla card stock and then adding the computer generated "There's no place like home for the holidays" sentiment. I then stamped, colored and cut out the trailer and placed it on dimensionals. I also hand drew a small wreath and colored it with Copic markers before cutting it out and "hanging" it on the door.

I loved this challenge and can't wait to see what the other design team members have whipped up. Be sure to visit SUINK's blog to check it out for yourself.

SUINKWWC16 - Oh Holy Night

It's Wednesday and you know what that means ... It's Whachadoin' Wednesday Challenge time! Today's challenge is to make a holiday card in non-traditional colors. I figured you can't get much more unconventional than a deep aqua (Arctic Pool by Core'dinations) light blue, soft beige, and a chocolate brown.

This little angel is from the "Oh Holy Night" set by Storage Units, Ink & More. I just love the angel's sweet expression. This set has all the makings of a little Christmas Pageant. You have to check out all the stamps in the set to appreciate how versatile it is and besides, they are so dang cute! I paper pieced the angel's gown with Heidi Grace PP and added Stickles to the wings for the sparkle. The sentiment is mounted to a chipboard star that was covered in more Core'dinations card stock. BTW, the card was made using the "Sketch For You To Try" challenge at I {heart} 2 stamp.

Christmas Cottage

Sorry I have been away so long. It seems like ages since I've had a moment to sit down and play.

This cute little cottage and sentiment is part of the "Deer Ol Santa" set from Storage Units, Ink & More. I stamped them in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and used my Copics to color the cottage. I dusted the roof and ground with Martha Stewart's fine glitter and finished it with my favorite ribbon.

Design Team Call

That's right I am going to be looking for three new members to be added to our team starting in January! Do you think you can make the cut! I have a few people I have been watching but I can't be every where so I thought I would put out a call and see what I get. Here are the rules of the call. You do not need to use SUINK stamps to participate, but if you have them you might as well flaunt them, now is your time. Pick out three or four of your favorite cards, or make some new ones if you are feeling really ambitious. Send them to me at yourrep@roadrunner.com along with a few words on why you would like to be on the team and who you design for now or in the past. It is important to know that I am looking for people who are dependable and enthusiastic. It is not required that you have been or are on another team so don't let that intimidate you newbies. I want fresh designs and people who can work well with others.

The requirements are pretty simple. It is a 6 month term. You will receive three stamps sets per release. The basics of the requirements are two cards per set and one 3-d item. There are a few more details but I will keep them for later.

So what are you waiting for send me your samples today! Deadline is December 7th with announcements on the 9th! Good luck.

SUINKWWC14 - Happy Holidays

Today's challenge at Storage Units, Ink & More is a fun one. It's bound to put you in the mood for the upcoming holiday season. Personally, I'm still in denial that Christmas is only 41 days away! OMG, how is that possible?

The challenge is to make an ornament. You do not have to use SU Ink stamps, but if you have them we'd love to see them. I chose to make a very simple ornament using a Making Memories acrylic snowflake frame. I backed the frame with Creative Imaginations patterned paper. I then covered a chipboard star in Anna Griffin PP and added silver Stickles in a random pattern to add some shine. I punched a hole in the chipboard with my Crop-a-dile and threaded and tied silver ribbon to it. I stamped "Happy Holidays" from the "Deer Ol Santa" stamp set in SU Cranberry Crisp on the same PP, punched it out and added it to the star with dimensionals.

Orange and Black - It's not just for Halloween Anymore

Whachadoin'? Feel up to joining us in a little challenge over at Storage Units, Ink & More? Today we are cooking up something orange and black (you can also throw in one neutral color) that is not Halloween related. Here's my card.

I may have to try this orange and black combo more often. I really like the end result! This cute little "hugger" and the sentiment are both from SU Ink & More's "Bear with Me" stamp set.

Public Service Announcement

Tonight I have two cards to share with you. Both were made with Storage Units, Ink & More's "Vote for Me" stamp set. This is such a timely set and it would be perfect to use for anyone running for office...school, PTO, etc. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an artist, but I did try my hand at making a backdrop for this debate scene. Yes, I did crack myself up!

My second card was made using some of my infamous stash of patterned paper. I just love this little image of the voting booth. I paper pieced the curtain and "Vote Here" sign and added Kandi Corp. small copper stars to the corners with my new Professional Touch tool. I love that you can get the look of a brad without having to have anything show on the inside of the card.

The message of both cards is the same. Regardless of the candidates you support, the important thing is that you get out there and VOTE!

Thanksgiving Blessings - SUINKWWC10

It's another Whachadoin' Wednesday over at Storage Units, Ink & More. Come join in.. and create something special using this bedding as inspiration.

Hmmm, it took awhile for the inspiration to grab hold of me with this set. Quite honestly, I had a difficult time getting past the color scheme. This is definitely not something I would choose for myself, but once I got past the colors and looked at the design, I knew just what I wanted to do.

I found a "Brides Collection" set of invitations on sale at Michaels yesterday. I normally wouldn't have given it a second look but the paper and colors caught my eye. I fell in love and would have bought it just for the patterned paper in the kit but it also came with ribbon and envelopes. Score!

I began with an ivory card base and used my Scor-pal to score it at 1/4" along each side. I added Core'dinations card stock and a bit of the patterned paper and ribbon from the invitations kit.

I stamped a sentiment from the Bountiful Harvest set with SU Chocolate Chip ink on ivory card stock and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I then cut and embossed it with Nestabilities. I inked all the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and added crystals for a bit of sparkle. A very simple card but it "speaks" to me. :-)

TECC37 - We Gather Together

I finally had a chance to play along with Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge. I
never miss checking out all the fantastic entries each week. They're so much fun. I used the sketch with Basic Grey's Ambrosia patterned paper. Yummy! The stamps are from the the Bountiful Harvest set from Storage Units, Ink & More. Are they not the cutest pilgrims ever?

I used my new Martha Stewart circle cutter to make all the circles. I have always struggled with other circle cutters but I love this one. Makes cutting circles so easy! I've read other reviews that were less than favorable, but it works great for me. I love that we have a variety of solutions in crafting so we can find the perfect solution for us.

The pilgrims and turkey were colored with Copic markers and then cut out before applying to the circle.

Whachadoin' Wednesday - Thanksgiving Favors

Good morning! Are you up for a challenge this beautiful Wednesday morning? Well, as luck would have it, we just happen to have one for you...and it's a fun one!

The challenge this week is to make a Thanksgiving favor. I have to say that this one had me stumped for awhile. I thought of several things only to toss them out as being too boring, too difficult, too weird...until I thought of this:

I don't know about your family, but when ours gathers for Thanksgiving, we always have tons of left over pie. What cuter way to send home a slice than with your very own pie box?

I want you to know that I went through great personal sacrifice in the quest to create the template for this box. I began by paying a visit to the drive-through of our local Burger King and placing an order for a #5 meal and a Cookie Dough pie. Of course I had to empty the box in order to disassemble it and that's where the sacrifice came in. Well, someone had to eat it! Once the box was empty, I carefully took it apart and traced it onto card stock and cut it out. I scored the box and then assembled it using glue dots to secure the seams.

I used the cute little pie image and part of one of the sentiments from the "Bountiful Harvest" set released today from Storage Units, Ink & More to decorate the box along with My Mind's Eye and Stampin' Up patterned papers. The bow is decorative but also functions to keep the box closed.

Nature's Abundance - Sneak Peek

I can't believe that it is already time to show you a sneak peek for Storage Units, Ink & More's October stamp sets. October, for heaven's sake! How did that happen? Time just seems to have sped up lately, hasn't it?

You are going to absolutely love the sets that are being released on the 1st. There are four new sets and they include wonderful Thanksgiving, political, and football images.

My card is made with the "Giving Thanks" set. I stamped several images from the set to reflect the Nature's Abundance sentiment that is also part of the set. I used KI Memories patterned paper as the backdrop. This has to be one of my all time favorite papers. I love the colors and it has the most beautiful sheen. My card stock choice was Core'dinations. It always seems to be a perfect match for whatever papers I am working with. I finished the card by attaching a tag that I made with my Nestabilities and adding a felt flower from Stampin' Up.

5 in 1 Challenge - Whachadoin' Wednesday

Denise, the owner of Storage Units, Ink & More has thrown out a challenge for the Design Team members to use at least 5 stamps in one card. The DT member that uses the most stamps will be declared the challenge winner.

Here's my card for the challenge:



















I counted an even dozen of the adorable stamps from "The Witching Hour" set. Knowing just how competitive my fellow design team members are, I'm sure they will be tough to beat, but I love the card and had a terrific time making it. I stamped all the images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then used a 1" square punch to turn them into inchies. I wanted to keep it to a mainly black and white theme so I added a touch of a sparkly orange gel pen to give each image just a hint of color.
